Peter Duffy grew up most of his childhood in Massachusetts just outside of Boston in the City of Woburn. After graduating high school in Northern Maine, Duffy attended Briarwood College in Southington, CT, and graduated in 1999 with a Degree in Mortuary Science. He became a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in the State of Connecticut the following year. After working the funeral trade in Connecticut for several years he went on to live in Japan for a period of one year working as an embalmer in a Japanese funeral home early in April 2002. It was here that he began to record his exciting visual stimulation through his photography.
During his year in Japan a round-the-world backpacking trip was planned with stops in several countries on three continents including Asia, Africa, and Europe. The trip was planned not only out of his own curiosity of the world, but to live in his father's dream of always seeing it. His primary stop was to the country of Tanzania to see the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro his father had spoken about so frequently as a child. It was early in 2003, before his trip, when his father died and Duffy traveled home to take care of the funeral arrangements and carry out the wishes of his father to be cremated. It appeared that his father would never hear about the great mountain from his son. After returning to Japan and fulfilling his contract with the Japanese Mortuary he began his journey. However he was not completely alone. Duffy brought a small portion of his father's cremated remains he had separated after the cremation, and spread a little in every country with most of them at his father's dream, Mount Kilimanjaro. Upon returning he began showing his travel images in local galleries in New England and upstate New York. The name he produced for his business of travel prints began with Peter Anthony Photography. In late 2005 and early 2006 the beginning touches had been put on a commercial photography & ad design business, Photon Concepts, or "ideas of light".
When not in the studio Duffy's visually journalistic event photography has taken him everywhere from weddings, different countries and to the world famous Playboy Mansion in Beverly Hills. Clients have included commercial photography & advertising design for:
